by SA
Stars: Ahmed Eid, Basma, Hassan Hosny
Director: Mohamed Amin
Production: Al-Arabia
Genre: Comedy
After this summer's Ma'Lesh, Ehna B'Netbahdel! (Sorry, We Are Getting Screwed!), Laylat Sokoot Baghdad is the second movie about the American-led intervention in Iraq to be offered by the Al-Arabia company. This black comedy allows audiences into the mind of a young, out-of-work Egyptian named Shaker (Eid), who is unable to find enough financial security to propose to his girlfriend (Basma). He enters into a dreamlike state after watching the first night of attacks on the news, and imagines he is a convict in the infamous Abu-Ghraib prison in Iraq. In his fantasy, Amin toys with several "what if" scenarios, including the invasion of other Arab countries. As of press time, the movie is still attempting to get past the Egyptian censorship.
