| In the mid-21st century, after a mysterious plague ravaged the world, human existence has all but been transformed into a sterile laboratory of sorts, with big-brother Dr. Merrick (Sean Bean) keeping watch. Behind the walls of a compound, the citizens await the possibility of being chosen to go to the Island, the last uncontaminated spot on earth. When Lincoln Six-Echo (McGregor) begins to question his drone-like life, down to a state-regulated diet and a uniform of white clothing, he discovers that he is in fact a clone, created to provide "spare parts" for humans. |
