| In Cinderella Man, Russell Crowe steps into the ring in the role of Jim Braddock, a boxing champion brought to his knees at the height of America's Great Depression. But he is given another chance to provide for his wife (Renee Zellweger) and three children the best way he knows how: in the ring. |
|
| For the sake of believability, Crowe had to shed 50 pounds going down to 176, and this wasn't the only sacrifice he had to make. The actors pit against him are professional boxers, and they had to make sure their punches came as close to the actor's body as possible. Sometimes they were a little too close for comfort, with Crowe sustaining constant injuries, including concussions and cracked teeth. Stunt coordinator Steve Lucescu along with Angelo Dundee, credited with having worked with Mohamed Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard, choreographed those sequences. |
