Abdullah Al-Ruwaished - Ma Fe Ahad Mirtah (Nobody Is Satisfied)
Al Ruwaished's latest album begins with soft music playing in the background, followed by a light tabla and a light guitar solo providing a unique twist to the Kuwaiti singer's music. The album's songs deal with different themes, but this is above all a romantic album.
Aline Khalaf - Sodfa (By Coincidence)
Packed with upbeat tunes, Khalaf's 10-track album is very pleasant to the ear. Even the saddest songs have an uplifting melody and, despite its quite repetitive lyrics and rhythm, the first track, "Bardo Sodfa" (Also By Coincidence), is enjoyable due to the Lebanese singer's sweet and playful voice. Khalaf's vocal abilities are especially impressive in the album's slow-paced and emotional tracks, and especially in "Gany We Aly" (He Came and Told Me), sung in the Khaleeji (Arabian Gulf) style. "Rah El Wafa" (Gone is Loyalty) is one of the album's most touching songs and you will find yourself listening to it again and again.
Fares Karam - Waedny (Promise Me)
Karam sings in the Lebanese dialect with his husky voice, showing an extreme attachment to his native language. The title track is an impressive love song. In "Laban El-Asfour" (The Bird's Milk), Karam harshly attacks his lover for never being satisfied, no matter how hard he tries. And the rest of the album will make you decide that you want to learn to dance the Lebanese Dabka. The use of the traditional Egyptian flute and drums in "Shefta" (I Saw Her) conjures up a brilliant blend of Egyptian and Lebanese sounds.
Friends – Friends
This is Friends' debut album. The group includes Mostafa, Tooma, Yasser and Rasha. Though most of the songs are not very original, one has to give credit to this album for its liveliness and diversity. Some of the tracks contain almost no lyrics; others are sung in a rap style. "Shakalo" (Complained to Him) and "Maandaksh Dam" (You Have No Feelings) are particularly catchy; the latter song is about a woman who does not appreciate nice gestures and gifts from her lover.
